国华能源投资有限公司（简称国华投资公司）成立于1998年3月，由原国家计委“以煤代油专用资金办公室”改组而成，现隶属于中央直管国有重要骨干企业——国家能源投资集团有限责任公司（简称集团公司）。国家能源集团氢能科技有限责任公司于2019年6月成立并划归国华投资公司管理，与国华投资公司“一套机构、两块牌子”。
国华投资公司主营业务为清洁能源开发及运营、氢能开发及运营、投资管理、产业基金。截至2020年底，公司拥有全资、控股子公司74家，分布在我国北京、河北、山东、内蒙古、新疆、江苏、宁夏、陕西、黑龙江、吉林、辽宁、天津、海南、安徽、河南、广西、广东17个省、自治区、直辖市和国外的澳大利亚、希腊，员工2500余人；管理总资产1002亿元，资产负债率48.55%。2020年，实现营业收入114亿元，实现利润43亿元。公司先后荣获“中国十佳绿色责任企业”、“全国电力行业优秀企业”、“全国文明单位”等多项荣誉。
国华投资公司不断完善现代企业管理制度，着力构建高效的组织架构和科学的管理体系，建立了战略控股的管理模式，在本部设职能部门20个。根据行业发展形势，国华投资公司积极响应“社会主义是干出来的”伟大号召，抢抓机遇，担当作为，明确了“以新能源为核心，氢能、综合智慧能源为两极，投资平台为新引擎”（“一核两极一平台”）的发展战略，全力推动各产业高质量发展。
清洁能源投资开发及运营。现有风电场81座（含在澳大利亚、希腊的风电场7座）、光伏电站23座，并网容量1220万千瓦（风电1163万千瓦、光伏57万千瓦)，年发电量221亿千瓦时，位列国内新能源行业第一梯队。目前正在全力推进新能源产业跨越式发展。
氢能开发及运营。全力构建风光氢储一体化发展模式，初步形成了“东西南北中”全国性氢能全产业链布局。代表集团公司高效运营中国氢能联盟，开展国家级氢能软课题研究并设立了联盟研究院。在江苏如皋建成我国首个符合国际标准的商业化双模加氢示范站。
投资管理。陆续投资了中诚信托、国都证券等金融企业，湛江电力、淮北矿业等传统能源企业，累计实现投资收益146亿元，投资回报率超过400%。同时，承担着回收国家煤代油资金的工作任务，累计回收煤代油资金340亿元，为集团公司的发展壮大提供了有力的资金保障。
产业基金。聚焦清洁能源产业，按照市场化运作的方式开展投资业务，设立了国华投资开发资产管理（北京）有限公司，助推风电、光伏等新能源产业做强做大，孵化培育氢能、储能、综合智慧能源等新兴产业，有效开创多层次、广范围的基金业务布局。
