宏遠興業是一創新研發導向的紡織製造商。1988年成立，垂直整合假撚、撚紗、織布、染整、印花、貼合塗佈等特殊後加工工程，並結合高科技與流行資訊，開發高附加價值的創新產品供應給全球運動、戶外活動、休閒及產業用材等領域之領導品牌顧客，並深耕永續發展。目前擁有三個生產基地，分別於台灣台南、中國上海及泰國拉佳布里 (Ratchaburi)，及十個行銷據點 : 紐約、巴黎、杜拜、上海、香港、曼谷、東京及大阪等遍佈全球主要城市。
宏遠花了20年時間，在上中下游建立創新技術高門檻，從最初的流行服飾（襯衫洋裝、女裝薄織物）到套裝外衣，10年前開始進入運動休閒衣著，與NIKE、ADIDAS等國際品牌合作，開發排汗、防水、抗UV等機能性薄布料，並創立物性實驗室。此時宏遠也把過去的時裝概念運用到運動衣著，讓運動休閒服飾走向流行化。
2003年宏遠進入戶外運動服領域，設立了尖端技術研究所，發展塗佈、貼合等高單價的機能性技術，從物理紡織進入化學紡織，開始生產各類功能性膜料。原本傳統的紡織業慢慢轉變為高科技產業，帶動了整個產業的提升。
2007年，宏遠更參與南台灣紡織研發聯盟，透過異業結盟與產官學界的資源，觸發更多創新研發能量。2009年5月，宏遠通過瑞士bluesign國際紡織品環保審核，成為亞洲第一家獲得貼合塗佈認證的公司。這是繼2008年正式成為bluesign系統合作夥伴，通過資源生產力、消費者安全、空氣排放、廢水排放及職安衛等嚴謹的5大原則後，致力於永續發展的最佳證明。
未來宏遠更將走入社區，協助社區環境改善，以創造在地幸福經濟為下一階段的目標。
