Worked under Dr. Christopher Depcik of the KU Mechanical Engineering Department to create an electric bicycle battery range estimation model and design a LIDAR early warning system for approaching vehicles. Personally designed and implemented an experimental procedure for data collection and documented research methods for repeatability. After catastrophic failure, rebuilt the battery system with new housings and connections to optimize system function and improve safety. Wrote and submitted a technical paper outlining the project.

Lawrence, Kansas Area

I volunteered to work with Dr. Ron Barrett of KU's Aerospace Engineering department to create an advanced model rocket engine. Reverse engineered competitor engines. Designed CAD models of rocket nozzle and chambers with SolidWorks. Built tool parts to assist in manufacturing. Utilized custom tooling and a lathe to create Teflon motor molds. Experimented with materials and processes to ensure solid-fuel pellet was incorporated safely and securely, while manufacturing carbon fiber engines.

Interacted with service advisors and shop foreman to identify repairs necessary for each customer. Responsibilities included maintaining equipment and a clean workspace, delivering high quality service promptly for waiting customers, diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical failures, and inspecting vehicles to ensure safety.

Worked with the Jayhawk Motorsports Faculty to address heat energy displaced through the engine cooling systems to maximize engine efficiency. Helped design and create the 2016 Formula SAE vehicle for JMS and worked with a team of students to redesign and improve the previous model. Identified and obtained testing equipment from manufacturers that satisfied operation parameters. Integrated sensors into an engine dynamometer system. Analyzed sensor data and calibrated output in order to determine heat lost through cooling system.
