About Lauren Becker
I believe the wellbeing of my community is inextricably linked to my own.Rural-raised, I hail from the agriculturally centered Driftless region of Southwestern Wisconsin, on Ho-Chunk Land. I was brought up alongside 11 acres of native and naturalized prairie, oak savanna, and pasture - tucked in a valley with dairying on three sides. I'm honored to call the village of Blanchardville - population 800 - my hometown. At my core, I care for the land and the people that taught me to be diligent and community-centered. This care translates seamlessly to the spaces I’ve discovered professional fulfillment.As a community-focused environmental geographer, I prioritize biomimicry in systems and policy design. My professional experience in local government, higher education, and the private sector has taught me that sustainability is only found collectively - at the intersection of public well-being, ecological health, and economic prosperity. As an adaptation and mitigation professional, I recognize this work as rooted in equity and restorative justice. My professional approach is best described as gathering tools.
