Brian is a computer modeling and simulation expert specializing in hybrid electric vehicle propulsion and vehicle systems dynamics. He obtained his PhD at the University of Waterloo in the department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering, where his research topic is on the multidisciplinary optimization of hybrid electric vehicles. For his doctoral dissertation he developed a simulation platform and methodology to efficiently perform concurrent optimization of hybrid electric vehicle’s powertrain component sizing and power management logic. Brian was previously employed as a senior vehicle simulation engineer at CrossChasm technologies, developing methodologies to rapidly and accurately create hybrid and electric powertrain models for energy consumption estimation. He was also a systems engineer for General Dynamics Land System-Canada, focusing primarily on vehicle dynamics and mobility analysis for light armoured vehicles, where he acted as the technical lead in the area of vehicle dynamics in the Computer Modeling and Simulation team.
