• As part of the Academic Support Center, provide tutoring services for students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs across the university. Sessions ranging from 30 to 90 minutes focus on writing skills such as critical thinking, brainstorming, grammar, mechanics, and APA and MLA formatting. The levels of support required by the students vary from basic editorial assistance to substantive engagement in how to write a paper. • As part of a new role in a developing institutional writing initiative, have worked to determine the best ways to engender a passion for writing in students and increase their communication capabilities. In this role, visited other universities to discover innovative programs and best practices.

• Managed Aurora University Magazine, which has a circulation of more than 38,000. Wrote most of the content, edited the entire publication, and oversaw the production schedule. Interviewed the university president, faculty, staff, donors, community members, and students.• Have collaborated with academic and administrative staff to write and edit various products, including website copy, press releases, print collateral for events, letters to the community, and brochures describing undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Also developed, conducted research for, wrote, and edited the annual President’s Report.• Developed and facilitated an electronic communication vehicle to engage current student-athletes, their parents, and others in operations of the Athletics Department. Similarly, managed a new video series highlighting the unique stories of athletics alumni to connect all members of the university community in this area.

• Acted as project manager, writer, and editor for an extensive range of communication vehicles and initiatives with varying goals, budgets, numbers of clients, and complexities.• Maintained outstanding relationships with clients in all Society departments while facilitating projects, solving problems, and setting and meeting deadlines. Clients included senior vice presidents, veterinarians, curatorial staff in charge of the daily care of the animals, and researchers known worldwide for their scientific expertise.• Oversaw Gateways, a four-color quarterly magazine that serves as the main communication resource for approximately 110,000 member households. Interviewed scientists and other sources, wrote content, and edited each issue. Ensured that stories about leadership in conservation, education, and animal care were delivered to members. According to surveys, members cited the magazine as one of the top reasons they understand wildlife conservation issues.• Managed the process of writing and editing all signs throughout the zoo, including interpretive signs in exhibits, which convey information about animal natural history and conservation initiatives.• Was involved in communication initiatives that targeted specific audiences, such as messaging that builds favorable relations with local communities and direct-mail solicitations to donors. Also contributed to marketing vehicles, including press releases and advertisements.• Supervised the editorial staff.• Served as the communications coordinator for the Incident Response Team, which is in charge of the Society’s response to emergency scenarios.
