I view serving my community as a privilege. I have always wanted to help people. In my job and in my volunteer work, my goal has been to help others and serve my community. As a tutor, I worked with students from various backgrounds. I met them where they were and helped guide them to where they want to be. At The Tutoring Center in Mountain View, I led a staff of 6 to grow our skills to help the kids we served. We worked together to build a space for them to learn both academically and personally. At West Valley Community College and Monterey Bay State, I attended meetings and workshops to hone my skills in serving the respective communities at these schools. At Monterey Bay State, I helped grow the online tutoring services. We were able to serve more students and provide a place for people who could not come in to the tutoring building.Recently, I have been volunteering with Santa Clara County Parks at Martial Cottle Park. I assisted with setting up, running, and taking down the activities for school field trips. When COVID-19 hit, I transitioned to volunteering with the online school programs by providing technical assistance to the park rangers. Also, I helped document the generations of family heirlooms left behind by the Martial-Cottle family.I volunteered as a driver with No Time To Waste to help feed the hungry. Weekly, on Tuesdays, my job was to pick up unused food at Kaiser Permanente and deliver it to Martha’s Food Kitchen in Downtown San Jose. I worked with staff from both places in order to provide the best service without interrupting their own daily tasks. I have my B.A. in Human Communications. I am pursuing a Master’s in Library Sciences.
