I am a Community Manager for Greystar working at Union Chapel Hill. I have been working at Union since it’s first day open, 8/6/2020. My current role includes leading a staff of 12 people, maintaining a class A property, securing leasing/occupancy goals, and balancing our budget. I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and studied Psychology, Advertising & Public Relations, and Business Administration. I graduated with a 4.0 at both UNC’s Hussman School of Media and Journal and the Kenan-Flagler Business School.More About MeMy grandmother always said, “luck will get you halfway there, but you’re responsible for the rest.” That carried me through my time at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I was lucky to get to attend this school. I found out less than 48 hours before Decision Day that my scholarship was approved; lucky timing. So, luck got me here but I am responsible for my experience at UNC. I was a double major in Psychology and Advertising & Public Relations with a minor in Business Administration. This has allowed me to learn as much as I can during my time here. I've been lucky to have amazing professors at the Hussman School of Media and Journalism that opened my eyes to the world of Public Relations; this field clicked with me. With my path chosen, I was responsible for making it happen. Months later, I was looking for a job in Chapel Hill. I decided to call Union Chapel Hill (my future home) and check in on a resume I sent weeks ago. To my luck, their hiring manager answered the phone. I had an interview the next day and started two weeks later as a part-time Community Assistant. When classes ended that year, I wanted to fill my free time and asked to work more hours. By the end of the summer, I was promoted to full-time Leasing Professional. I was able to take a more active role in customer relations, marketing, and event planning. The lessons I learned that summer inspired me to apply for the Business Administration minor. Luckily, I got in! I was in my element the next year balancing being a full-time student and full-time worker. I was certain I used up my luck by scoring this amazing job and dream education. Thankfully, I was wrong. A year after becoming full-time, I took over as Union’s Leasing and Marketing Manager. Then, I was promoted to Community Manager eight months later.My grandmother would say finding a career is only halfway there, I will be responsible for using my career to help people around me. Which you can count on me to do.
