About Giuseppe De Luca

A Mechanical Engineer in love with Space!I am currently working on my MSc thesis at the Italian national institute of astrophysics (INAF) on the analysis and design of structures for ground-based telescopes to pursue my MSc in Mechanical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, which provided me with a solid foundation in structural design, structural reliability and product modelling.Since 2021, I have been part of PoliSpace, the first student space association of Polimi, which has given me the opportunity to work on challenging and rewarding projects with people who share my passion and vision. Currently, I am a Structures Team Member for the 6S CubeSat mission, a project that aims to test innovative solar cells and structural batteries in space. As a FEM engineer, I collaborate with the team to define and conduct the analysis needed to validate the design of the satellite. In June 2023, I attended one of ESA's CubeSat Hands-On Training Week, where I learned about the subsystems and operations of a spacecraft. I also serve as a Project Manager for the MEEVA project, which involves the development of a "Medical Equipment for EVA" with a thermal control system and embedded sensors. My role is to coordinate and lead the team to achieve the project's goal.Through these projects, I have developed technical skills, as well as attention to detail, deadlines, and documentation. I have also improved my communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities, as well as my problem-solving and creativity skills. I am always eager to learn new things and to apply my knowledge to good use. I aspire to contribute to the advancement of space technology and exploration, and to make a positive impact on society and the environment.
