The next step for my career was to expand my project capacity and build upon my work as a developer. My role transformed from the technical execution of projects to the management of account relationships, establishment and growth of development teams and roles, the growth and mentorship of developers on my team, establishing technical practices with the Basic organization, and architecting and leading large scale development projects across a range of technologies.

As my developer role at Basic continued to expand, my next step was to build an understanding of what it takes to successfully lead a development project. I took on additional responsibilities of project scoping and creating timelines and started to understand how the work I was doing informs and impacts that of others. Working alongside the world-class talent at Basic and driven by passion and ambition, I developed meticulous attention to detail and a keen eye for well-crafted digital experiences. Working with some of the biggest brands in the world, I learned how to work with different teams, adapt to new and changing technologies, and what it meant to bring a create vision to life through technology and code. My experience here helped create the foundation for the rest of my career. I was fortunate enough to work with friends and colleagues who helped shape my work ethic and helped me understand the dedication to craft that is so important in our industry.I started my time at HLK as an interactive designer. In my time here, I became as passionate about technology as I was about design. I used my nights, weekends, and down time to learn to blend design and tech and began executing the interfaces for the projects I designed in code. As the last step in finishing my degree, I worked for 6 months as a design intern with the team at Cisneros. I was able to experience a culturally rich environment in Santa Fe, NM and learn alongside the design team at Cisneros, working on deliverables for the university I was currently attending.
