I am Jake Atkinson, a University of Florida graduate and a current Cornell SC Johnson College of Business student. I am pursuing my Masters in Management degree from Cornell to pivot from my economics background into a business one. I am using my opportunity to expand my network with a new school and to better understand the fundamentals of business management. Over my collegiate career I have interned in three different industries. While these industries were different in their overall business subjects (risk management, sports management, and equity management), the one common denominator that they all shared was management. In these roles I dealt a lot with the operations and strategy sides of the businesses. This allowed me to grasp a firm understanding of how each of these businesses worked, and what needed to be done in order for them to be successful. I believe that the skills I have acquired working in these different industries will allow me to seamlessly transition into a consulting/internal strategy role. I am a creative thinker that thrives in high stakes scenarios and have a great ability to adapt to new challenges. My strengths lie in my personable personality and my ability to create solutions from scratch. When I am passionate about a project, that project has my undivided attention and will be completed to the best of my ability. I am also a person who loves to learn and experience new things. Living my life this way has turned me into a well rounded person who only hopes to experience more of what the business world and the world in general have to offer.
