Co-inventor, Autonomous vehicle interface system. U.S. Patent 9,915,950. Early in my time at PolySync I developed a high-bandwidth, high-fidelity sensor-data capture platform in C, called Core, used by over 60 companies including major OEMs, Tier 1s, Tier 2s, and chipmakers for autonomous vehicle development. While building this solution on top of DDS provided some useful shortcuts, there were still some significant challenges in developing software for managing and interfacing with 30+ sensors of diverse types and classes (LiDAR, Radar, HD Cameras, etc.), especially as many of them were still prototype or pre-release hardware. Core eventually grew into an autonomy application middleware for designing and deploying applications for sensor fusion, path planning, object detection, etc. In that vein I also designed and developed APIs and applications for customers and end-users to facilitate their autonomous vehicle development programs. For example, infrastructural utilities like generating a pulse sync signal to a cluster of PointGrey/FLIR GigE cameras for hardware triggering and timestamping.Most recently, my work was focused on high-assurance software as it relates to safety-critical systems. Drawing from my experience creating sensor drivers I began working on how to synthesize high-assurance device drivers from declarative specifications. Most of that work centered around leveraging a Data61 project called Termite. Additionally, I co-created tooling and software for building and deploying seL4 microkernel-based applications using the Rust programming language. My specific contributions were related to rapidly crafting esoteric platform support and bootstrapping bare-metal & RTOS embedded applications on safety-MCUs from a host application processor.
