I ensure that the store provides high quality beverages and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to a vast amount of recipe and presentation standards, while following health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products.

Refurnished collects, cleans, and delivers furniture donations all across the Charlottesville community, and we reallocate these donations to low-income families, refugees, and students – free of charge. The purpose of this organization is two fold: 1) to help members of our community who are struggling financially, and 2) to reduce environmental pollution caused by furniture waste. We are a certified 501c(3) organization, and we maintain a volunteer staff of more than 100 individuals at any given time.

The NICD focuses on promoting bipartisanship in the United States Congress. Every year, they poll their 60,000+ members to determine what bipartisan issue currently under review in Congress matters most to them. After determining the most important issue from the results of that poll, the organization then produces an in-depth policy memo on that issue to distribute back to its members who provide feedback. That feedback is then used in meetings with Congresspeople and their staffs to spur action on the issue and hopefully get some legislation passed. During my time there, I conducted in-depth research for the aforementioned memo, which covered Career and Technical Education in America. That research was presented in various meetings with experts in the field, members of Congress, and a well-renowned writer/editor who contributed to the production of the memo.

My role as a scholar at the UVA Center for Politics is to spearhead the development of a Tiktok account for the Center. Our team is working to produce non-partisan political content on a regular basis, providing educational and thought-provoking videos to generate more political enthusiasm and participation.
