This was the last management role I carried out during my time at Admiral. The role was twofold: firstly, it involved managing the day-to-day running of a team of analysts, which together formed the Intelligence Team. This included:Developing the team through reviewing, monitoring, feedback and training. Managing, distributing and allocating all work.Ensuring the proper maintenance of all Counter Fraud Intelligence. Undertaking regular 121’s, chairing team meetings, completing appraisals and promotion packs. Providing ongoing coaching, learning and development. The second part of the role was more technical — similar to that of a “technical lead” — and involved overseeing the identification, management and development of all in-house fraud operations. This included:Providing assistance and advice to the ops group regarding developing techniques and strategies for the detection of organised fraud. Having to be a strong and effective communicator.Maintaining effective lines of communication and relationships with all relevant areas of the business, as well as with our suppliers. Being involved with ongoing in-house fraud-related projects and trials. Chairing meetings specific to strategy on our numerous fraud operations. As a result of this role, I was able to develop my ability as a strong strategic thinker. I relished having problems to solve and aimed to make intelligence-led, data-driven decisions to arrive at effective solutions.
