Think Systems is Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance (SESA) consultancy dedicated to the delivery of Systems Thinking outcomes for the transport, rail and defence industries.Examples of projects include:MTS – Sydney Metro City – Accreditation and Operational Readiness SupportProvided HF analysis and advice to support operational readiness, and accreditation for passenger services.Sydney Metro West - Provided HF support for the development of a Sydney Metro West station. This work included assessment of options and documentation of HF impacts and implications, aligned with safety outcomes and deriving requirements for delivery in detailed design phase.I also undertook HF impact assessments for multiple cost reduction initiatives, including impacts to tunnelling, station and precinct designs in support of business case development.Suburban Rail Loop Project – Melbourne - Responsible for Human Factors (HF) integration activities through a number of design gateways for the Glen Waverly Station and Commuter Carpark.

This role ensures the AOR Through Life Support Program delivers against Systems Safety requirements and provides assurance to demonstrate compliance of the mission system in relation to capability, safety and seaworthiness. Responsibilities include:- Lead the AOR Sustainment Systems Safety Program to ensure compliance with the requirements of Safety Standards and Navy Safety Management Systems- Provide Systems Safety guidance and support to the AOR sustainment, Engineering and Maintenance Teams- Analyse changes in the seaworthiness system and ensure that requirements are understood and implemented throughout the platform life-cycle- Manage AOR Safety artifacts including the AOR System Safety Case, Hazard Logs, and Hazard Assessment Reports

This role expands on my previous role extending the primary responsibilities listed below across the eight Commands that comprise Police Transport and Public Safety Command (PTPSC). These include Aviation Command, Marine Area Command (water police), the Dog Squad, Mounted Police, Major Events and 3 Police Transport Commands. This role reports directly to an Assistant Commissioner and provides guidance and oversight to those with Quality and Safety portfolio responsibilities within each Command.The Aviation Command remains the primary focus for this role, due to the regulated mandate for QMS. The development and establishment of QMS across PTPSC is proceeding on the basis of risk exposure. Beyond the establishment of foundational elements the Marine Area Command has been the secondary focus so far.

Responsibilities include:• Manage quality assurance, compliance and continuous improvement matters across the Aviation Command including:o Continuous Airworthiness Management (asset management) o Aircraft Maintenance o Flight Operationso Check and Training• Manage / conduct systematic audit programs in support of the above activities (and their certificates / authorisations) • Liaise with key external stakeholders such as the CASA and Air Services Australia with regards to compliance, operational and regulatory matters• Conduct investigations in response to Safety Management System reports. • Introduce the Boeing MEDA human factors-based root-cause investigative protocol for maintenance error events and conduct investigations in line with this system• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of applicable regulations and legislative requirements, and to translate these requirements into logical, practicable and communicable plans to all relevant stakeholders – from senior management to engineers and crew• Integrate human factors principles into the aviation policy and procedures suite to facilitate optimal safety and performance outcomes

In this role, I was the focal point for all quality and operational safety related matters within my business units. My responsibilities included the following;- The conduct of maintenance error investigations (Boeing MEDA Investigator - Qantas trained).- Facilitating Human Factors and CTS (regulatory refresher) training programs.- Auditing, both locally and in other ports for compliance.- Liaising with auditors during regulator, customer and internal auditing activities.- Management of the self-audit program for the Sydney and Canberra Terminals and a number of Asian transit stations.- Development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives in response to investigation outcomes, occurrence / incident reports and audit activities.

I completed my apprenticeship in 94 and commenced my trade at the Qantas Jet Base. I transferred after a short time to Line Maintenance at the Sydney International Terminal where I achieved my CASA LAME qualifications. I remained within the international operation for 15+ years during which time I completed a number of secondment roles, including Facilitator Line Maintenance (projects and purchasing), Communicator (coordination role) and various trainer roles. I also had significant involvement in OHS both serving on and Chairing the International Terminal Safety Committee.In 2011, I took an opportunity to transfer to Line Maintenance Sydney Domestic Terminal where I continued to be active in OHS. My interests in safety and in training led to my involvement in the Qantas Human Factors training program as a course facilitator.In April of 2013, I commenced the role of - Quality and Training Advisor, Line Maintenance NSW, ACT, Asia
