Head of the Supply Chain team for Reaction Engines Ltd as it moves from R&D to volume manufacturing. Annual spend of circa £19m across 600 suppliers (300 direct).Responsibility includes:- Line management of 10 Procurement heads, 2 Supplier Quality heads and 3 Logistics heads, with operational dotted-line responsibility for 3 Planner Buyers.- Accountability for supply chain delivery of 12 core programmes, on time and to specification.- Running daily morning stand-up to communicate priorities for the wider production functions.- Initiating kaizen change requests to the procurement system and processes.- Feeding P2P requirements into the ERP implementation workstream, and championing Microsoft 365-based workflow management.- Introducing category management approach to supplier management, rationalising and developing suppliers where appropriate.- Driving material, manufacture and process changes to reduce cost and mitigate risk in the supply chain.- Chairing workshop for streamlining the inspection and NCR processes.

Responsible for all supply chain activity at Meggitt's Birmingham site, which produces a range of heat exchangers for the aerospace industry. Fully responsible for the following:- £22m annual spend (2/3 direct, 1/3 indirect), with key categories of castings, forgings, machining, kitted components and indirects. 53 direct suppliers.- Key focus on improving OTIF metrics, which were sub-60% at the time of joining (currently 94%).- Leading and developing a team of 5 buyers through a period of significant poor motivation related to job consultations, and restructuring roles for more efficient working. Additional matrix responsibility for 2 supplier quality engineers.- Introducing metrics, processes and standards for best practice procurement activity.- Championing the source change process, to ensure that transfers of work between suppliers are undergone according to strict processes and due diligence.- Achieving annual cost reduction targets, currently forecast at 2.8% for 2019, and developing plans for cost reduction in 2020 (forecast for 3.5%).- Driving aggressive inventory reduction plan to move from £2.0m stock value to target of £1.3m, including implementation of consignment agreements.- Transforming site perception of the supply chain function from being an operational limitation to a strategic driver.- Reporting on local metrics to site senior leadership, and strategic improvement plans to director level.- Daily and weekly reviews with key customers to demonstrate security and sustainability of supply.

Responsible for all procurement activity on door casings, door frame finishers and door module plates for all Jaguar and Land Rover programmes beyond supplier nomination. This includes:- Analysing and negotiating quotations for design / engineering changes.- Tracking cost movements and reporting/resolving deviations.- Managing functional and contractual disputes.- Process engineering to assess the impact of JPH changes to cycle times.- Make vs Buy supply decisions.- Supporting internal strategic reviews and providing commercial guidance.- Proposing, governing and delivering cost improvement opportunities, and mitigating cost risks.

Group Strategic Buyer for amphoteric and non-ionic surfactants, servicing all European manufacturing sites.Key focuses of the role:- Management of 234 unique mat-plant codes, with an annual spend of £31m.- Tracking raw material fluctuations and their effect on purchased products, and using market information to inform technical changes or negotiate cost-down.- Proposing and implementing both commercial and technical cost reductions; maintaining, prioritising and reporting on over 100 improvement projects - combined annual saving of £1.7m, with a plan for a further £1.3m.- Strategic supply chain development to support flexibility, mitigation of risk and stock optimisation.- Escalation of supply chain issues to propose a resolution strategy or alternative source.

Responsibility for managing service supply capacity for all automotive commodities, with a particular focus on strategic commodities (e.g. filters, brake pads).The role can be split into:- Monitoring, reporting and mitigation of supplier capacity constraints and their customer impacts.- Forecasting global service part demand, and feeding this into procurement strategies.

Process Development- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of various processes and procedures, including strategies for best practice sourcing and risk analysis.Database Management & Administrative Automation- Use of Visual Basic programming code to automate Excel-based administration duties to a button click, shortly to extend to Access-based activities.- Use of SAP table links to collate information from a broad range of departments and stakeholders.Change Management- Supervising the process for driving, testing, implementing and communicating a change request for Jaguar Land Rover's SAP system.- Involves regular contact and management of the third party outsourced software provider.End of Production Life- Responsible for overseeing the transition of a major vehicle line from current to non-current product, focussing mainly on the implications on the supply chain.- Heavy focus on risk management, identifying both potential commercial changes and supply vulnerabilities (e.g. supplier insolvency).- Thorough customer and stakeholder interaction, with an aim to optimising the balance between commercial and operational needs, while ensuring a sustainable supply chain.

Warehouse & Storage Facilities- Managed two tender exercises for warehouse facilities for multi-million pound stockpiles.- Encompassed a whole-life analysis of risk, transport, waste and systems implementation.- Managed trade-off between price and flexibility of scope to include short-notice space uplifts or releases with minimal commercial or sustainability implications.- Developed portfolio of suppliers and sites, refreshed on a quarterly basis.Linefeed & Logistics Services- Supported the sourcing and contract management of Jaguar Land Rover's lead logistics provider, including tendering for new sites or projects.- Key tender experience was for the inbound and in-plant logistics for Jaguar Land Rover's world-leading engine plant.- Experience of union relations and TUPE incidents.Prototype Freight- Sourced, contract managed and continuously benchmarked the special and prototype freight category.Workwear- Managed the tender process for the provision, storage, ordering and cleaning of corporate workwear.Game Theory- Supervised the communication and training of Game Theory sourcing practices within the Non-Production Purchasing department, in parallel with third party consultants. This included English, Dutch, Brazilian and Japanese auctions in its scope, as well as sealed bids.- Assisted with the running of two major Game Theory offsite events.
