Hi there! My name is Ryan and I have a Bachelor's of Science in Forensic Biology (Honours) from Trent University, and I'm interested in working with forensic and/or biology laboratories. During my time at Trent, I've focused on courses relating to Forensics and Genetics/Molecular Biology, even as electives (Advanced Molecular Biology, Biocrime & Bioterrorism, Bioinformatics, Epigenetics, Laboratory DNA Forensics, Microbiology, Population Genetics). Within these courses I gained valuable biology and forensic laboratory experience by conducting various exciting experiments. I enjoyed every aspect of my laboratory experience, from background academic research to following experimental procedures to achieve hypothesized results. Aside from laboratory courses, I've also completed various seminar based research courses that focus on novel scientific research articles in Forensics and Biology. My favorite articles consisted topics of Genetics, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology, and Pathophysiology. Additionally, I had the incredible opportunity to work as an Academic Assistant in a first-year chemistry course. I assisted students who were new to a lab setting and supported them with proper techniques and lab safety protocol. I enjoyed getting to know the students and supporting them with their learning. I further developing my own laboratory safety abilities, academic knowledge and standard procedures.
