I am a career investor and entrepreneur, with a background in public service and managing Advantage Capital’s investment portfolio. I rejoined the firm as Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer in 2012 after serving in the United States Congress, representing New York from 2009 to 2011. In our more than 30-year history, Advantage Capital has invested in over 900 companies across 39 states, supporting over 67,000 jobs. As an impact investing firm, we seek to support entrepreneurs and businesses in capital-starved markets while generating returns for our investors. I currently oversee the firm’s entire portfolio – which includes the 105 unique businesses we invested in 2022. Prior to my time in Congress, I served in the administrations of two Missouri governors. During my initial stint at Advantage Capital, from 2001 to 2009, I oversaw the firm’s New York portfolio. Earlier in my career, I co-founded three market-shaping high-tech companies. I’ve always been involved in the investment industry and community, including service as the president of the Upstate Venture Association of New York, along with other roles. I currently sit on the Board of Directors at nine companies.
