The ability to positively impact my organization and the world around me is what I love about being a professional in the supply chain management field! The opportunities for these positive changes are endless. Here are a few examples where I have been successful implementing some best practices: • As I was negotiating a contract for a key component on a project, I was fortunate enough to have access to enough information to do a should-cost analysis for the component. The price the supplier had quoted was substantially higher than the results of the analysis. I used this information to negotiate the price down 20% as well as obtain more favorable terms on the contract. • While leading a cross-functional team, we were able to reduce waste of a direct material by changing the procedure in which we processed the material. This reduced our usage by 15%. This not only resulted in cost savings, but it also decreased our impact on the environment by decreasing the amount of material we consumed. • During the Covid-19 era, supply chain continuity has been an issue for almost every business. Risk management has become a focal point especially in the manufacturing industry. I have been able to ensure that my organization has continued supply of all needed materials through good supplier relationship management. By sharing forecasting and market data along with developing alternative solutions before constraints arise, we have kept our operations going without disruption! These are just a few of many ways that supply chain management can influence a companies performance.My desire to be successful in my career has motivated me to continually improve myself. I have earned my CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) certificate along with several other certificates and classes in strategic sourcing, category management, forecasting, etc. I am committed to lifelong learning which gives me the skills to adapt to the ever-changing world and be great at what I do.
