Uffe Elbæk was born June 15, 1954 at Ry Højskole, and has, as he says, already managed to live several lives since. Personally as well as professionally. He is a Danish social worker, educator, author, entrepreneur, activist and former MP, Minister for Culture and political leader of The Alternative.In 2011 he became member of the Danish Parliament for the Social Liberal Party. Two years later, September 2013, Uffe Elbæk left the Social Liberal Party and founded the Green Party The Alternative which he was party leader for until February 2020. He didn’t run for a seat in the national election November 2022. Uffe Elbæk is one of the initiators to and former Principal of the KaosPilots - International School of New Business Design and Social Innovation, located in Aarhus (1991 - 2006). Before that he was also one of the initiators for and head of the cultural entrepreneur-milieu The Frontrunners - also in Aarhus (1982 - 1991). In November 2001 and again in 2005 Uffe Elbæk was elected to the City Council of Aarhus (Denmark’s second largest city) for the Danish Social-Liberal Party. He stepped down as city counselor in Aarhus, when he was hired by the City of Copenhagen to be the CEO of the World Outgames 2009, a position he held from 2007 to 2009.In July 2010, Elbæk founded the consulting company Change the Game which focused on leadership training, political campaigning and social innovation.Uffe Elbæk has over the years received numerous honors and awards, ranging from his appointment as ambassador for the local premiere league football club AGF to Knight of the Dannebrog. Today he lives with his husband Jens in Copenhagen.
