In this role, Kevin led all aspects of the new division and created organic growth and grew inorganically by acquiring Cyan Networks and their industry-leading "Blue Planet" software solution. The Agility division was re-branded as Blue Planet and Kevin moved forward leading global sales and go-to-market activities for the division.Prior to joining Ciena, Kevin was CEO of Hatteras Networks from 2003 to 2011 where he led the company from zero revenue to tens of millions of annual revenue with continuous annual growth. He led the venture-backed company from initial losses to strong profitable growth
. Along the way, Kevin and his team secured contracts with 2 of the top 5 Data and Telecom service providers in the world. 
 Kevin is well regarded in the industry as a charismatic leader, recruiting and leading high-performance teams in both large corporate and small/entrepreneurial environments. From 2009 to 2010 Hatteras' annual revenue grew at a rate greater than 50% and enabled Kevin to lead the sale of Hatteras to Overture Networks. Kevin was awarded the 'Leading Light' award for Best CEO leadership in 2006 and the prestigious American Business "Stevie Award" in 2008 for Best CEO Telecommunications.
