Strengths: Input - Learner - Connectedness - Intellection - AchieverAs a lifelong learner, I balance research, work as a sustainability professional, a passion for leading fitness classes, organic gardening, and a slew of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and rowing.As the Associate Director for a Campus Sustainability at Penn State University, I work with students, staff, and faculty to connect people in ways that will catalyze sustainability projects on campus through collaborative action.As an educator and education researcher, I strive to identify how to educate in a way that inspires and supports responsive behavior change.As the Director of the Center for a Sustainable Future at Indiana University South Bend, I collaborated on sustainability issues by providing education and outreach on campus and in the community. While employed as the first Sustainability Coordinator for the South Bend, Indiana Office of Sustainability, I developed sustainability initiatives in the City to enhance sustainability education and engagement in the community and across the region. While serving as Director of the Elkhart EnviroCorps AmeriCorps program in Elkhart, Indiana, I trained a diverse group of individuals 18-50+ years old to develop and implement scores of environmental education, restoration, and volunteer projects. The result was a thriving nature preserve, engaged and educated public and public officials, and developing a partnership with the Nature Conservancy.I continue to hone my skills in sustainability research, writing, training, project development and implementation, event planning, website development, social media outreach, creating and evaluating educational projects, community development, and environmental education. When not at work, I keep busy as a proud parent to Owen and Madlean and partner to Greg, being part of a community garden, working part time as a fitness instructor, and I am an active biker, hiker, kayaker and proud member of South Bend Community Rowing.
