Growing up, one of my family’s favorite go-to vacation spots was a resort in Sunriver, OR. We would always stay in the same place, which sat directly in front of railroad track. I remember as a child watching the trains go by from our hot tub and wondering what they were hauling and where they were going. We’d sometimes even challenge each other to try to hold our breath for the length of the train (something in which I wasn’t ever successful).Many years later, while completing my MBA, I met a recruiter with Union Pacific and I once again felt that same childhood wonder take over. I love having the opportunity to work for a company that supports such a broad array of industries that compete in global trade while supporting the infrastructure of what makes America tick. I’m a geek for optimization – taking something that works and pushing it to a new level. Prior to my MBA, I had the opportunity to work as a management consultant for several years, leveraging technology to optimize operations for clients across the country. I now have the chance to leverage those skillsets in an industry that serves as the backbone for our economy.That’s a fun reason to get out of bed every morning.
