Program Specialist Victim Assistance
•Respond to all inquiries for victims assistance and triage cases in the most effective and expedient manner with the highest degree of confidentiality. •Complete initial screening intake and determine what services residents are eligible for. •Oversee crisis intervention to residents, which serves as a mechanism to assist in coping with emotional trauma as a result of a crime. • Investigate allegations of victimization and criminal activity by reviewing evidence such as camera footage, photos, police reports, hospital records etc. • Work with States Attorney Office, Federal Witness Protection, Chicago Police Department, Aldermen, Property Managers and other agencies as needed •Evaluate cases and resident grievances to make sure decisions made were in accordance with CHA, HUD, City, State and Federal laws and procedures. •Act as point person to train, plan, direct, and evaluate the work completed by CHA contractor’s as it relates to the Victim’s Assistance Program. • Maintain and monitor all open cases to ensure CHA policies, procedures, and objectives are adhered to and cases are resolved in a timely manner. •When approved, coordinate the relocation process within CHA divisions including Resident Services, Asset Management, and Occupancy. •Facilitate educational workshops on the Victims Assistance program and coordinate specific educational programs on domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, etc. •Prepare monthly and quarterly reports to provide required information to outside funding sources and VP. •Develop tracking systems to complete and enter all required record keeping and data tracking. • Recommend policies and procedure revisions as deemed necessary to improve the program.
