Senior Master Sergeant John Patrick McGhee is the Group First Sergeant for the 106TH Operations Group, at the 106TH Rescue Wing, Gabreski Air Base, Westhampton Beach, New York. Senior Master Sergeant McGhee serves as the key enlisted advisor to the Commander on matters concerning the welfare, career progression, and mission readiness of more than 100 war fighters. Senior Master Sergeant McGhee provides guidance and direction to squadron senior leadership on unit morale, career enhancement, and discipline. Senior Master Sergeant McGhee's duties include performing quality force reviews on all enlisted performance reports, awards, and personnel actions. Additionally, Senior Master Sergeant McGhee monitors compliance with Air Force standards, counsels personnel on leadership, military customs and courtesy, and acts to resolve complaints. Senior Master Sergeant McGhee was born in the Bronx, New York and enlisted in the Air Force in 2006.Senior Master Sergeant McGhee's background includes service as a Bus Operator for the New York City Transit Authority, a Military Liaison Officer for the Joint Task Force Empire Shield, a Volunteer Fire Fighter for the Brentwood, Long Island Fire Department, and he currently serves as a New York City Police Officer.In addition, Senior Master Sergeant McGhee served on active duty in the 49TH Material Maintenance Squadron, Holloman, AFB, New Mexico. Senior Master Sergeant McGhee has deployed four times in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.Prior to assuming his current position, Senior Master Sergeant McGhee served as the Non-commissioned Officer In Charge of Water, Fuels, and Systems Maintenance at the 106TH Civil Engineer Squadron, Gabreski Air Base, New York. In this role, Senior Master Sergeant McGhee managed the daily operations, training, morale, discipline, and the welfare of seven craftsmen postured for worldwide deployment.
