The lab investigates the intersections of architecture and science, and apply insights and theories from biology, robotics, computer science, mathematics, materials science, physics, fiber science, and engineering to the design, fabrication, and production of responsive material structures and systems. The lab's research including bioinspired adaptive materials, DNA 3D printed bricks, robotic fabrication, and 3D Kirigami assemblies has been funded substantially by the National Science Foundation, Autodesk, the Grainger Foundation, and the National Academy of Engineering.I worked with Professor Sabin and graduate students at Cornell University for 1 month helping design, create, and innovate in Jenny Sabin's cutting-edge JSLab. The internship was comprised of computational modeling/engineering, mechanical engineering, architecture, materials science, & functional/structural design. The work relied on preexisting knowledge of advanced biological and mathematical pattern formations. The projects I contributed to include the Polybrick 2.0 project, the RoboSense 1.0 project, and the SAA (Sustainable Architecture & Aesthetics) project. I worked with Rhinoceros3D ver.7 as my primary CAD software, and used Simplify 3D for all 3D printing needs using a Potterbot.I was Invited by Jenny Sabin to come back for a longer internship at Cornell University after my Freshman year at Texas A&M University studying engineering. I plan to help further with Polybrick 2.0, and I have many ideas for Polybrick 3.0. I will likely be incorporated into at least one more project upon my return.
