Staff Software Engineer

Held many roles in my time at Patreon: full-stack Technical Lead of our Payments organization, VP of Engineering, Director of Product Engineering, and iOS engineerIn 2015 I started at Patreon as an iOS engineer. I launched our app to over 100k monthly actives within six months of beginning development, and spun up our internal and public APIs alongside it.In 2016 I became the interim VP of Engineering. I refocused the team around clear product objectives and processes, increasing our NPS by 15 points within six months and halving our merchant churn. I grew the engineering team rapidly (from less than 10 to more than 30) while improving engineering retention and morale. I also restructured our organization to have clear career trajectories, learning opportunities, and widespread autonomy for our engineers, no matter their passions or skills. In 2017, I moved into a Director of Product Engineering position to focus on my passion for the intersection of product, design, and engineering. While in that role, I mentored the engineering leads on all cross-functional project teams and helped steer the engineering organization's product development processes. This involved agile/scrum training, testing and QA tooling and planning, product analytics, org-wide project coordination, and release strategies. In 2018, I transitioned into a Staff Engineer role within the Payments organization, which did all the billing and money-moving operations. There, I was a full-stack technical lead, overseeing our architectural planning and leading our feature implementation (integrating with third-party vendors like Checkout and Sovos, launching new payments features like tiered pricing and annual billing, etc). We processed, at peak volume, over $40M per day, over 100 transactions per second. I also continued to support our internal tools, including our web data management libraries, private and public API libraries, and our web integration testing environments.
