Working to support the commercial and research objectives of the university.

Overseeing all the commercial work for the HHS, including: 1. Corporate advice on operation of the statutory body and interaction with Government; 2. Land and Buildings, including leasing, construction and other dealings with land; 3. Commercial arrangements and negotiations with service providers; 4. Medical contracts (IR&HR); 5. Procurement of medical devices, implants and consumables; 6. Software procurement (GITC); 7. Policy development, consultation and advice; 8. Research contracts and intellectual property commercialisation; 9. Litigation.

Carrying out usual solicitor functions for the University within the Research and Innovation Division, primarily in connection with the Faculties of Health and Social and Behavioural Science. Areas of law which are commonly considered include: * General contract law; * Intellectual Property, particularly patent and copyright; * Privacy and patient consents;* Human tissue ownership and use;* Clinical Trial Agreements, development and implementation; * Funded research, sponsorship and con-joint appointments; * Joint Ventures and other contractual centre arrangements.

Provision of legal advice and drafting services within the Office of Commercial Services for QUT, including: - All manner of research and consultancy agreements;- All manner of intellectual property advices, including patent, copyright, trade mark, confidential information and trade practices issues; - Agreements relating to sponsored research positions including Chair Agreements; - Commercialisation matters, particularly from front-end research and development; - Centres and joint venture arrangements; - Clinical trials and allied health work, including patient consent and privacy matters; - Commercialisation of training and teaching materials; - Professional and education training course agreements; - Internal policy work; - Insurance, indemnity and in-house litigation support.
