I have 20+ years of experience in the utility field. I'm currently Director of Engineering at Seattle City Light, with the responsibility for managing approximately 150 electrical engineers and professional staff which include: System Planning Engineering, Service/System Engineering, Network Engineering, Substation Engineering, Transmission Engineering, Protection Engineering, Streetlight Engineering, Join Used Engineering, and Automation/Technology Engineering. In addition, I am responsible for capital planning (system load and reliability studies and project creation), engineering design, and capital project implementation. I have also developed and managed ongoing performance of $150M capital and maintenance annual budget.

Manage and lead the System Planning & Operations Group.Provide prudent assessments and recommendations that comply with company standards and preserves the integrity of the transmission and distribution electric system. Provide short and long term system planning by evaluating the need for additional facilities to meet future and existing load at a competitive cost. Also perform system analysis to meet complinaces will all licenses and regulations including WECC, NERC, and FERC requirements.Project lead in developing Tacoma Power’s 6-year plan and 15-year horizon plan to meet the capacity, reliability, and flexibility of operation. Project lead to facilitate and develop company strategic goals and bi-annual budget for their T&D Departments.Successfully performed technical engineering analysis by promptly evaluating the customer’s needs and providing sound technical recommendations on improving their system reliability and vindicating present situations.On Selection Advisory Geographic Information System (GIS) Committee to select, interview, award and execute contract, and develop a two year implementation of service for GIS platform, Energy Management System Committee, SAP work management, Committee, database conversion, and application development.Technical representative at conferences, committees, and at various regional meetings such as: Regional Planning Forms (NWPP & NTAC), Regional Transmission Organization (RTO), City Council, and the Washington Utility Transportation Commission.

Started in the Information Technology (IT) group at PSE. Responsible for developing engineering software such as, GIS, AutoCAD etc. Later transitioning to the distribution design engineering group, which focused on services and systems design. Effectively identify, prioritize, engineering, and managing the underground cable replacement projects.
