During the first term of her employment at LCIS, Michelle has been asked to facilitate her first ever vertical tutor group, host Science Club and teach DP1 Biology at higher level. She volunteered to host two assemblies, one of which looked at emotional intelligence through the lens of Star Wars. The other focused on how our choices shape who we become and how they affect the lives of others. She is most excited about the "Excel-lent Feedback Tool" for the MYP that she envisioned and then created in collaboration with the very talented Paul Varnish.

Michelle was part of a vibrant science department for the middle years program at the Fiechten campus of the International School of Basel. She enjoys teaching MYP 1&2 pupils from a large variety of cultures and varied language proficiency. She has also arranged guests speakers such as Dr. S. Armstrong an Astrophysicist to give an inspirational science talk at her school. In 2017 she decided to encourage the gifted and talented pupils by entering them for the Swiss Young Naturalist Tournament, where she was also selected to be a juror. She accompanied two of her pupils who have been selected to represent Switzerland (as part of a team of six) at the international tournament held in Nanjing, China this year. They in turn brought home gold medals. After hours she continued tutoring DP level biology pupils as they prepare for their final exams, helping them to master the subject.

+My Favourite Tutor was a Swiss based tutoring service that was set up to offer private tuition for both adults and young people wishing to expand their scientific knowledge or improve their conversational English skills. As Michelle is working full time, she no longer runs her official site under www.myfavouritetutor.orgAt ISB Michelle offered in school biology tutoring sessions for DP1 and DP2 pupils.During her time with Academia Learning as a personal teacher, she taught A-Level biology for the Edexcel curriculum international examinations. Whilst looking for a more permanent teaching role, Michelle was a maternity cover teacher, teaching biology DP1&2 in the IB curriculum as well as MYP chemistry at ISB. Here she also experienced the accreditation process and the valuable feedback that it provides. Where needed, she taught international AS Level biology at Academia Learning and continued tutoring after hours.Michelle enjoyed her first public speaking event in 2016 as a 3min pop up speaker at the prestigious TEDx Basel event. She spoke about the power of self-talk in helping young people overcome obstacles in education, whilst using metaphors and storytelling.

In April 2014, Michelle was appointed as one of four Pedagogy Leaders who collectively had the opportunity to shape the future of teaching at Sawston. As a leader of learning and staff development the aim is to enhance the quality of day-to-day teaching and learning experiences across the school. Along with this and teaching science, Michelle also hosted Chess club and revision sessions once a week.Other responsibilities include:Mentoring a newly qualified teacher.Pastoral mentor.Peer coach.Planning and delivery of Teaching and Learning briefings.Staff well being opportunities.Form tutor.

In addition to the duties undertaken by a teacher, the Deputy Director of Learning for science is responsible for the leadership of teaching and learning in key stage 4 and for supporting the work of the Director of Learning. This included various admin tasks related to exam entries, tracking progress and organising controlled assessments.

Mentoring GTP students from Northampton University. General teaching responsibilities. Subjects taught: chemistry, physics and biology to KS3 & KS4 students including BTEC. Exam boards: Edexcel,OCR and AQA. Designed and implemented strategies to improve motivation and track progress in KS3 and KS4. Internally judged as a good teacher with elements of outstanding teaching.

Teaching Year 6 history, geography and additional literacy whilst working towards gaining experience to obtain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Designing a sceme of work for year 7. Supporting students with learning difficulties (Year 6 -9) to access the syllabus.

Personal assistant to Managing Director, day planning, booking of flights and accommodation, loading of sales orders in Pascal, planning company functions, client communication and problem solving.
