I added a two credit internship to my courses in the spring semester to gain a better understanding of marketing and special events at a ski area. I took on the responsibilities of the primary snow reporter for the mountain. I also assisted with special events including rail jams, promotions with outside vendors, and off site promotions for the mountain.

I serve as a day to day manager for our frontline staff of lifeguards, climbing instructors and belay facilitators. I am responsible for making sure that all of our guests are able to enjoy attractions safely and efficiently. I cooperated with the Head Lifeguard to direct a daily team of 12 lifeguards who were responsible for the education and safety of our patrons. I scheduled staff to provide effective coverage and proper rest periods to maximize safety while reducing fatigue. I implemented a more strict training and in-service program that incorporated skills practice, team.

I was hired to help one night a week at the Smuggler’s Notch Indoor Courtside pool. I was responsible for scanning the pool, educating patrons on safety, clerical data collection, pool chemistry monitoring and some light janitorial duties.

I worked daily one on one or with a volunteer to help a special needs guest how to ski. Guests would typically come for a week at a time and would be with me 7.5 hours per day. I was given a short student note sheet and talked with parents, guardians or the individual as important to find out what my student’s goals and challenges would be. Then I came up.

I participated in the college’s annual phonathon. The purpose of the phonathon is to maintain relations with the college’s alumni. I was required to use excellent public relation skills to build a rapport, inform an individual and ask for a donation to the college’s general fund during a brief phone conversation.

I created a postive and healthy community for 40 other individuals. I lived with my residents and served as a leader and mentor. I helped them with the challenge of living together in a new environment. I addressed safety and health needs when necessary. Even though I have left this position, some of my residents still contact me for help and advice.
