I started using CAD in 1998 while attending college. I found a job that paid well and worked my way up to management. This was a great job, using a 2D router to cut panels. I quickly learned the Theory of Constraints. My top business book is "It's Not Luck" by Eliyahu M. Goldratt. I eventually had a choice to make, continue college, or be promoted to General Manager. I decided to accept the General Manager position.That was in 1999, and I don't regret that choice for a second. I started working at RAPID in 2003 as the only sheet metal engineer. I was able to create the first engineering and estimating team. SolidWorks was new back then, and I was able to find new ways to make our process faster with Special things in SolidWorks. In 2012 we hired our first full-time .net programmer and I was able to learn how to code in C#. I can still remember the excitement when the results of my first sql query flashed on to the screen or when the team learned to use the first application Increasing the capacity of this department was a blast for me, the numbers kept getting better.I was developing software almost full time, and the engineering team had a solid process and three strong members who were ready to take the department over. The Software Development department was started. We developed eRAPID and an online customer portal and many more applications and internal websites that currently run Rapid's complex schedule and reporting systems. The team grew and once again I moved on.My R&D position was my favorite I was able to leverage all three teams Estimating, Engineering, and Software development to identify and eliminate the constraints in the manufacturing process for each division. The theory of constraints was used and each month the results were verified by an increase in shipping and reduction of lates and RMA'S So in short-I love CAD, SOLIDWORKS, and Software Development but using all three to develop a plan to increase capacity is my passion.
