About Steve Fogarty

I started my education in design but quickly learned that I wanted something more versatile so I switched to business. After graduating I landed my first job at a search firm and when I made my first hire I knew instantly that recruiting was 100% in my blood and never looked back. I worked my way from the ground up, from recruiting coordinator to eventually playing hands-on leadership roles at some of the most successful organizations in the World. But I also always had a desire to build something. I recently co-founded Scalrr, an executive search firm built from the advice of founders for founders. We help early-stage companies, Seed to Series B, build and scale their teams.In addition to Scalrr I co-founded a healthy grain and juice bar concept in Portland Oregon called the Celery. I enjoy working with talented people on their next career move and fueling them so they can be at their best. I enjoy working with early-stage founders who are taking a similar leap and may be hiring an executive for the first time. I love connecting with other entrepreneurs and sharing knowledge - I find it incredibly rewarding to see other entrepreneurs succeed.To stay balanced I love working with my hands. It gives me a chance to shut off the part of my brain that I use in my professional career and use a completely different part of my brain to see something physical come to life. I recently started investing in Airbnb and long-term rental properties and love spending time remodeling and updating spaces. I love visualizing what a space can be and then putting in the hard work to bring it to life. I'm still learning the ins and outs of this business but so far it's been great. My role has been focused on brand, store design, technology, people strategy and overall operational excellence. With our operational and leadership foundation in place, my role is to step back from day-to-day operations and serve as a primary investor.

Led development and implementation of tools to deliver exceptional candidate and hiring manager experience, with a goal to attract and retain top talent. I built a function focused on redesign and roll out of recruitment technology & process improvement, while driving all respective change management. Technology and process projects included a SalesForce to SmartRecruiters implementation, rebuilding Owl-Twitters online offer tool, and mapped 22 unique hiring processes and refined to 3. I launched Twitter’s talent brand including the development of our key messages, a new career site, the redesign of Birdhouse (Twitter’s Intranet) for the People function, social recruiting strategy and ad campaigns enabling the company to hire more than 2500 people over two years including close to 1700 technical hires. As part of my role, I rebuilt the People Analytics function and led training and development for our recruiting function which included the launch of a recruiting analytics dashboard, launch of new employee engagement survey & rebuilding on-boarding and functional training for the recruitment organization. This transformation equipped recruitment with the necessary innovation to compete for top talent in Twitter’s high velocity environment, contributing to hiring more than 20% of engineers with racial diversity and over 38% female engineers. Our leaders were provided with a deeper set of analytics to support smarter and more predictive hiring decisions.
