Created Firmware and Hardware for networked lighting and building control systems.• Designed and wrote the firmware for over thirty core devices of the GR2400 lighting control system. Devices include DTC (digital timer clock), relay and dimming controllers, digital wall switches, photo sensors, thermostats, modem and Ethernet interfaces, wireless interface to enOcean sensors and switches, and interfaces to other building automation using protocols such as ModBus, Metasys, Crestron, DMX512 and more.• Created high level hardware design for all devices and verified Schematic/PCB layout• Practiced secure/failsafe coding practices to assure system is always responsive whenever possible(E.g. distributed fallback operation when communication is lost, redundant/self-checking firmware)• Major features include failsafe remote firmware upgradability while the system is fully operational, astronomical clock, system-to-system remote control, and advanced scheduling• Designed web-based Java applications to allow for remote system control/monitoring• Wrote numerous, C++, and Perl based maintenance, test and firmware upgrade applications• Hired, evaluated, and mentored technical staff• Wrote technical documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences• Created automated product testing systems.• Written well over 500K lines of functional and well debugged C code and 30K+ assembly• Contributed significantly to company’s growth and eventual purchase by Acuity Brands, Inc.• Assisted in expansion of company from a staff of 10 to over 100 members
