  • Storylight Films
    Founder
    Storylight Films Jan 2014 - Nov 2014
    Pleasanton, Ca, Us
Storylight Films is a project I started inspired by the loss of 4 very close family members over the course of a year. The loss of the older generation means decades worth of stories, memories and lessons are instantly lost to the children and grandchildren. I set out to explore new ways to capture life stories, both for the older generations as well as for those facing end of life. We developed a technology platform to quickly and cost effectively capture life stories. These experiences and lessons can then be easily passed on to the next generation.

Ranging from office furniture to medical devices, we brought the best of the innovative IDEO process to help companies like Apple, Procter & Gamble and Pepsi bring new concepts and ideas to life.IDEO brings an amazing process of user observation and research, brainstorming and need-finding, combined with a brilliant cross-functional team of designers, engineers, human factors and interaction designers. The IDEO way is to develop an amazing toolbox of processes and technique that can be applied to any problem Much of the development work we did at Orbit Baby was based in the IDEO method. In 1997, Plynetics was the cutting edge leader in rapid prototyping and rapid tooling - before 3D printing was even a term in popular culture. We provided prototyping services to our customers with a broad toolbox including SLA (stereolithography) SLS (selective laser sintering) and high speed machining of injection molds for short run production. At Plynetics I brought 100's of products to life using our prototyping technology and designed over 100 plastic injection molds. We had a strong collaborative environment of machinists, technicians and engineers to get the most out of our bleeding edge technology.Having a strong expertise in plastics and molding would help me throughout my career as I've gone on to design hundreds of plastics parts and reviewed countess tooling drawings and designs. We predominantly used Pro/Engineer (before Creo) and Solidworks.
