With 20 years expertise in information management within the design, construction, and operational realms of the built environment, I have a proven track record as co-author of influential publications, industry standards, and guidance on information management and modeling. My dedication extends beyond my role in leading one of the most prominent contractors towards “better information management”, I also extend my support to several organizations, striving to influence positive change. This includes:Serving on BuildingSMART's COBie certification advisory board whilst acting as a technical consultant on their AOH framework, designed to replace COBie for international use.Collaborating with BSI and UKBIMAlliance on various standards and guides, including the development of numerous free industry resources.Chairing various industry working groups hosted by BSI, UKBIMAlliance, and universities.My journey commenced with groundbreaking projects at Avanti, where I played a pivotal role in pushing the boundaries of information management and modeling, culminating in the update and publication of BS1192:2007. An iconic milestone was the introduction of the first-known instance of COBie (Version1) on a UK project in 2008/09, which standardised the information exchange of the asset register using IFC.My passion lies in digital processes, encompassing Common Data Environments (CDEs), and I actively champion the development and implementation of open categorization and exchange systems that boost data interoperability.
