Graduate Mechanical Engineer
My time at FYFE is constantly assisting me in expanding and improving my skills and experience in the mechanical engineering discipline. I am actively working to diversify and strengthen my knowledge and competencies in this role. Currently, the tasks I have been directly involved in included the following: • • Creating accurate 3D models of existing and planned infrastructure and performing detailed stress analysis on these systems. This analysis requires many concepts to be considered such as external loading, flow/acoustic induced vibration, geometric stress intensification factors, thermal expansion, different materials in the same system, and much more.• Preparation and review of engineering design documents that are issued to clients. Including but not limited to; Bill of Materials (BOM), Bill of Quantities (BOQ), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PIDs), Isometric Drawings, Pipeline Alignment Plans (PAPs), Pipeline Key Plans (PKPs).• Engineering calculations of design factors using technical datasheets & Australian/International Standards.• Equipment sizing and selection for many different projects and design criteria. • Piping stress analysis for different fluids, materials, and environmental conditions.• Co-operation with inter discipline engineers to execute multidiscipline projects.• Communication with clients and suppliers on project details and item specifications.• Training new starters in the methods and procedures used to complete mechanical engineering deliverables.
Structural Engineering Intern
During my engineering internship with Powerlink Queensland I worked on a variety of tasks, including the following:• Pre-construction structural modelling of transmission towers to withstand dynamic wind loads and extreme weather conditions.• Post-construction structural modelling of transmission towers to enable the repair and replacement of certain members without causing structural failure.• Calculating dynamic loading on conductors in existing structures.• Experience in testing structural capabilities of conductor connection devices under high loads.
