As a person-centered counselor, I believe that it is within human nature to be intrinsically good, with genetic predisposition and environmental factors influencing cognition, behavior and perception of self. I also believe that every human is capable to relegating their daily life anxieties as well as overcoming personal challenges. As I seek to support individuals and families, I will utilize the following therapeutic modalities: Cognitive/Behavioral therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Gestalt expressive arts therapy as well as Person-centered approaches. Furthermore, in order to enhance my competency, I will avoid giving advice, as it may be harmful, and I will also make conscious effort to be mindful of imposing my personal values via biases. Instead, I will ensure that I am a great listener to my clients and promote unconditional acceptance by exuding nonjudgmental basic helping skills such as emphasizing positive qualities and potential for change.
