Working in various sectors, both in the Public and Private Sector and currently having hands on experience with various Non-Governmental Organisations and shelters together with communicating with Key workers and vulnerable people, has sharpened my awareness of the needs of various sectors in society and I believe I have acquired many skills to this affect.With the support of my superiors I am able to act as an advisor, advocate and counsellor and feel privileged to provide advice and support that effectively protects Service Users’ current needs and requirement. Many a time I am involved with people who face and inability to refine the basic educational and social skills that invariably means experiencing feelings of being marginalised and excluded from mainstream society. Generally speaking, the experiences that I gain from working in particular working environments strengthens my ability to become emotionally mature and non-judgemental which has resulted in a sense of discipline of setting goals and working hard to achieve them. Unquestionably these beliefs promote an altruistic approach in my life which led me to volunteer in the Children’s Fund, which consists of a collective voluntary organisation to raise money through fundraising activities amongst others to support children in need.During a lecture held at the University of Malta, Dr Marilyn Clark’s speech became a catalyst that has reinvigorated a need to recognize the injustices that other people face and ‘walk the extra mile’ to help them. I believe that all stakeholders in any given society should hold a sense of benevolence and be held accountable to provide services that will endorse the well-being of a community. It is with these sentiments, an education journey and my various work experiences that have reinforced my convictions in selecting a career which is interesting and challenging. Thus, providing an opportunity to deliver results that will make a difference to people’s lives.
