My experience includes spatial planning, human settlements policy development, informal settlement upgrading and the incorporation of climate adaptation and resilience in development planning. I am currently an executive Director at AIVIA, and a Specialist Technical Consultant for the World Bank. I enjoy both policy and strategy development as well as community-based interventions. In my practice I strive to produce end-user and future-focused outcomes and products. I am currently working with the World Bank, National Government, and three of South Africa’s metropolitan municipalities to develop a long-term pipeline plans for informal settlement upgrading. My work with AIVIA has afforded me the opportunity to advise on the incorporation of climate adaptation and resilience within urban policies and strategies. I recently completed a Status Quo analysis for an intermediate city focused on the mainstreaming of climate resilience in the development planning and policy environment, as well as the development of a new early-stage policy on agri-villages. I am currently involved in the development of a Transformative River and Stormwater Management Programme, which provides an opportunity to deeply engage in developing an enabling physical and institutional environment for ecological infrastructure as a critical asset and structuring element of cities. I am a professionally registered planner with SACPLAN, and in 2022 I was privileged to receive an award from SACPLAN as one of the top Young Planners in South Africa.
