Senior Manager, PrZwift Apr 2022 - Feb 2024Ca, UsI was very grateful for the opportunity to join the in-house PR team at leading virtual fitness app, Zwift. In this role, I took responsibility for PR and communication strategy in North America, Australia, and New Zealand, and managed teams in each of those markets. I also assumed management of several major recurring campaigns that leveraged all of Zwift’s marketing channels, leading cross-functional teams including CRM, advertising, social, forums, web, and localization. Although my time at Zwift ended abruptly and prematurely when my position was eliminated during a broad restructuring, I am very proud of the work I did to pivot Zwift’s PR strategy. When I started, the strategy was largely focused on cycling media. Under my guidance, we shifted our focus to general and fitness media, while still making sure that we were still working with endemic cycling publications, blogs, podcasts, and other content creators. This successful strategy, along with other changes in Zwift’s marketing, contributed to Zwift ending two years of flat membership, and resuming growth. In addition to overseeing PR strategy and implementation in some of our key markets, I also crafted internal and external communications about new features and product updates, changes to terms of service, app release notes, and company news. -

Account DirectorIngoodtaste May 2018 - Oct 2020San Francisco, California, UsI'd long been impressed with TRUE founder Mark Riedy's ability to tell important, resonant brand stories when I approached him about joining his agency. I was interested in coming to work for him as both an opportunity to learn from one of the most knowledgable marketers in the outdoor industry and also as a chance to gain experience as a brand marketer after a long stretch working in media. I hoped that TRUE would give me the chance to engage with leading brands and to diversify my experience and marketing skills. As an Account Director at TRUE I was initially put in charge of several accounts, including Wahoo Fitness and Science in Sport, while also representing Zwift and Vocier. -
Elite Amateur Bike Racing And Event DirectorAmateur Bicycle Racer Mar 2004 - Jul 2019For many years, being a bike racer defined my non-work time. While I am not currently competing, I learned countless lessons about structuring my life, creating priorities, engaging with broad and diverse communities, and physical wellness from my time as as an athlete. During my years racing, I became an elite road and track athlete, and competed in high-level races, including Olympic-qualifying track events in 2015 and 2019, as well as multiple elite national championship events. My years as an athlete also spurred me to begin to volunteer my time as a bike race promoter. I operated my first event, in Saratoga Springs, NY, in 2009, viewing it as a way to contribute something back to the community that I was a part of. I was an active promoter through 2018, operating road, cyclocross, and track races, as well as mass-participation gran fondo events for as many as 1,600 riders. For the largest events, my responsibilities included coordination of all event details -- marketing, athlete safety, course planning, sponsor recruitment, event staff management, merchandise, branding, communications, and other aspects.

Senior Marketing Manager/Bicycling MagazineRodale Inc. Dec 2013 - Mar 2018Emmaus, Pa, UsAfter several years as Gear Editor, I had started to yearn to grow into a new role and to have more of an impact on Bicycling's health as a business. When the position in the marketing department opened, I was quick to apply and was grateful to have the opportunity to move into a position where I worked daily with our national team of sales representatives, our publishers, and my former editorial colleagues. In this role, I supported our advertising sellers by designing and executing integrated advertising programs for our clients, rolling out Bicycling's affiliate commerce program, working on cross-brand integration with other Rodale-owned media properties, and designing and executing mass-participation events for Bicycling. I had the opportunity to attend trade events and join our salesforce on in-person calls, representing our brand to the market and our highest-value clients. AuthorGood Bye Blue Mondays Aug 2007 - Jan 2011When I graduated college, the accomplished equine writer Stephen D. Price, upon learning that I was interested in a career in journalism, told me that I needed to start a blog. I did so immediately and wrote anywhere from five to seven entries a week for four year. Sales AssociateBlue Sky Bicycles Mar 2008 - Nov 2010I believe, to this day, that everyone should work in retail and in food service as a way to learn how to treat their fellow humans, before moving on to other parts of their career. I'm glad that I got to work in this leading independent bicycle dealer for several years while I was also working as a journalist. It was a fun opportunity to leverage my knowledge of bicycle products and my interpersonal skills. To this day, I remain grateful to this shop's owner, Liz Gormley, who increased my hours and my hourly wage when I unexpectedly lost my primary employment, ensuring that I was able to continue to make my rent while I looked for a new job.
