Muhaimen is a senior banking professional with over 30+ years of multi-functional experience with 6 banks in Asia, Australia and the Middle East. Prior to joining Maldives Islamic Bank, Muhaimen was the MD & CEO of United Commercial Bank (UCB), one of the largest Bank in Bangladesh. Muhaimen has earlier worked as MD & CEO of Brac Bank in Bangladesh where he expanded the profitable SME, retail and wholesale business, earned market leadership in SME, Remittances and retail deposits, and won for the bank the prestigious Financial Express & IFC award for “The Most Susatainable Bank in Asia” in 2010. During his stewardship of Brac Bank, he had in two years, doubled the balance sheet and profitability of the Bank and took the bank to # 3 position in the country with the largest distribution network. Muhaimen spent 17 years in ANZ Grindlays and Standard Chartered Bank. In Standard Chartered he was Regional head SME & Mortgages for Middle East and South Asia. Muhaimen was also Country head for Standard Chartered’s Consumer Banking in Bangladesh.Muhaimen has extensive senior management experience being in the roles of CFO, HO-Human Resources, Head of Cards, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO. He also spearheaded the integration of ANZ Grindlays & SCB as the Integration Manager in Bangladesh.Muhaimen holds post graduate degree in MBA. He has trained at INSEAD, Mount Eliza of Monash University and Harvard University. He has served as a director on the board of four companies – BracEPL, Brac EPSL, bKash (mobile banking company) and IIDFC (Non Banking Financial Intitution) in Bangladesh.Expertise: Muhaimen has extensive experience in Digital Banking, Retail, SME, Finance, HR and Operations. He is a start up and turn around specialist who set up new businesses and transformed businesses through BPR . Muhaimen was instrumental in setting up the mobile financial service bKash - the first in Bangladesh and uPay- the first blockchain based digital wallet in UCB.
