Water has been a passion of mine since I took my first hydrogeology class two decades ago. In 2011, I decided to leave my career that had mainly been spent bobbing around on the ocean and instead began a graduate program in managing water as a resource. Since then, I have delved into many aspects of water. I've performed stormwater sampling and stormwater quality analysis for a non-profit. I've published research in the climate impacts on regional water resources and performed research in agricultural irrigation management. I worked for a US Department of Defense contractor studying conservation issues, change management, and stakeholder engagement. In California, I approached water conservation and demand management from several different directions including digitalization of the water network and leak detection with AMI, urban landscape design using nature based solutions, and customer education as a Water Efficiency Representative with a municipal water district.
