A constant in my professional life is the ability to work on diverse design challenges, ranging from furniture and modern apartment design to archaeological survey projects.Practicing architecture in Greece means -more often than not- dealing with unusual and uncanny sites, handling uncertainty and constantly muddling through bureaucracy. Handling such issues requires a certain degree of agility at all levels of the design and construction process.

A lesser number of projects for private clients has to do mostly with existing residential building decoration and refurbishment, where I am responsible for the general layout, detailing and actual supervision. Another group of private projects deals with the restoration of traditional buildings in Crete. These stone-built dwellings usually range from the late 18th to early 20th century. Their “self-containing” and “cryptic” qualities can touch every aspect of architectural design and practice, and always pose a challenge both to the architect and to the client. Show less
