I am an instructor of paralegal studies at the UCSD Extension Paralegal Certificate Program. I teach Administrative Law, which involves ethics and professional responsibility, due process implications, rule making, limits on administrative authority, and administrative hearing practice principles.

Served as a part time administrative law judge hearing license discipline cases for various state boards and agencies. Ruled on discovery and evidentiary objections. Drafted proposed decisions in disciplinary proceedings.

Supervised and taught mediation internship course at the University of San Diego School of Law. Lectured on mediation practices, procedures, and ethics. Reviewed and graded student journals and final papers.

The University of San Diego School of Law's Administrative Hearing Program (AHP) is a program dedicated to providing administrative hearing services to local government entities and the public. The AHP serves in a capacity similar to an administrative court, leveraging its institutional resources and the talents of its personnel to ensure due process is afforded to both the public and local government entities in hearings related to administrative appeals involving local or municipal administrative enforcement issues. The AHP has been training and supervising Administrative Hearing Officers to preside over local or municipal administrative hearings since 1994. Currently, the AHP is contracted to provide administrative hearing services to the City of San Diego, City of Encinitas, City of La Mesa, City of Santee, and San Diego State University. The AHP provides hearing officer services for the following municipal/local agency administrative enforcement appeals: parking citations; code enforcement actions; administrative citations; civil penalty assessments; permit/license denial, suspension, discipline, and revocation; transient occupancy tax assessments; abatements of public nuisances.

Taught substantive courses in contract law and remedies. Also taught introduction to law for paralegals, which encompassed civil procedure, evidence, and due process lectures. Prepared curriculum, drafted exams and assignments, and issued grades based upon student performance.

Greater San Diego Area

Represented firm clients in the following areas: antitrust class action, breach of contract, personal injury, medical malpractice; healthcare provider disputes. Responsible for drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, and all law and motion matters. Translated documents and proceedings for Spanish speaking firm clients.
