As a healthcare professional, I am dedicated to efficiency, quality and proactive learning to optimize patient experience. On a biweekly basis, I regularly attend the Multidisciplinary Cancer Conference regarding complicated cancer cases and discuss patient outcome based on the gross and pathological findings from my lab. I regularly participate in machinery trouble shooting, and through that process I have become very familiar and comfortable with working with various equipment in my lab. Being a proactive learner, I dedicate my time on a regular basis to get updated and relevant information regarding my field of expertise, focusing on working knowledge in surgical and forensic pathology. I am familiar with a variety of clinical manifestations of cancer of all organs of the body, as well as the ancillary testing and their protocols. Some of the text books I've read include: Surgical Pathology Dissection: 2nd edition by William H. Westra, Manual of Surgical Pathology 3rd Ed by Lester, and Atlas of Forensic Pathology by Joseph A. Prahlow. I use the Cancer Ontario website, as well as the Royal College of Pathologists website to get current information in regards to specimen grossing, guidelines, and required criteria for accurate pathological findings.Due to my diligence and my dedication to academics, I have been granted authority to update, revise and integrate SOPs in my department within as little as 9 months since I started my job.
