• Receives, open and gross all types of large and small surgical specimens from ACU/DDU/Operating Rooms• Adheres to laboratory protocols (SOP) with extensive working knowledge in dealing with complicated cancer cases, and prioritizes specimens accordingly• Familiar with further studies required on surgical specimens (PCR, flow cytometry, electron microscopy, DNA/RNA analysis, bacterial/fungal studies etc..)• constructed, updated, revised and integrated relevant information into pathology SOP• Responsible for cutting and proper decalcification of bone specimens• Experienced with frozen section cutting and staining• Regularly assists pathologists with autopsies• Records relevant specimen information into Meditech LIS• Understand and recognizes near miss incidences (mislabeling, specimen and patient information mismatch etc) and documents and resolve issues in a timely manner• Comfortable with time constraints and gross specimens with efficiency and accuracy (able to gross up to 10 large complicated cases in a day)• Effective communication and organization skills with peers and pathologists to maximize the quality and quantity of completed cases• Regularly attends biweekly Multidisciplinary Cancer Conferences; regarding patient diagnostics, treatment options and discuss findings• Responsible for training colleagues on printmate cassette printer (Thermo Scientific)• Overlooking Labline gross templates for future integration processing and preparation for training colleagues of the new software• Comfortable with trouble shooting processors (Shandon Excelsior ES, Tissue Tek VIP 6,) slide stainer (Leica ST 5020) and coverslipper (CV5030)

• Performs all processing, embedding, microtomy and H&E staining with precision• Capable of examining, describing, and dissecting up to 216 surgical specimens small specimens, of all tissue types on a daily basis• Maintains a successful track record of accessioning tissue samples• Maintains quality controls, calibrating, preparing, troubleshooting and routine maintenance on laboratory equipment• Handles inquiries and problems in a timely and professional manner• Familiar with LIS and STAT protocols• Communicates effectively with team members to maximize specimens sent out to pathologists• Adhere to laboratory safety guidelines, verifies slides and blocks to ensure quality slides
