About A. Mclean Emenegger

Prior to moving to Seattle in 2020, A. McLean Emenegger (A.Mc.E) was an active leader in the Los Angeles artistic community for 20+ years. She opened her first brick-and-mortar art gallery, AMcE Creative Arts, on Capitol Hill in June 2021. In June 2023, "The Seattle Times" named McLean one of Seattle’s next generation gallerists. McLean’s art world background is extensive. She began her art career at the Santa Monica Museum of Art (now the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles). She served as Executive Director of the visual artist nonprofit organization Gallery 825/Los Angeles Art Association (LAAA) and presented hundreds of exhibitions and educational programs that received record public and critical acclaim. McLean left the nonprofit sector to establish an art consulting and visual artist support firm, which served as an umbrella for her independent and public programs and projects. Additionally, McLean worked in the Curatorial Department of the Armory Center for the Arts, Pasadena, CA, and was the Director of Bandini Art Gallery, Culver City, CA where she curated many of its critically acclaimed exhibitions. Her independent curatorial projects have been reviewed in numerous press outlets such as the Los Angeles Times, Artweek, Artscene, Review Magazine and The Huffington Post. Her public art exhibition Welcome to LA/Please Come Again at Los Angeles World Airports at LAX was featured on KCET’s Artbound and KPPC’s Take Two. McLean also worked in the art publication field as a writer and served as Managing Editor of THE Magazine L.A. and Contributing Editor for the international artist collection magazine Bluecanvas and wrote an artist advice column. Her art reviews, features and artist interviews have been included in multiple print and online publications. McLean remains a dedicated educator with a full and diverse public speaking background in coaching artists and business leaders to establish impactful careers in the art industry. She has presented her lectures and workshops through the Master Class Program at Annenberg Space for Photography, National Arts Marketing Project, College Art Association, Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, UCLA Extension, Los Angeles County Arts Commission, Santa Monica College, Center for Cultural Innovation, California Lawyers for the Arts and Pasadena City College among many others. In 2016, she joined the faculty of the National Arts Marketing Project for Americans for the Arts.
