  • Silicon Solar Inc
    Founder And Consultant
Silicon Solar Inc Mar 2009 - Present
Provide world-class consultancy service in the area of solar energy, semiconductor, vacuum system development as well as semiconducting materials characterization within United States as well as oversees. Company founder has expertise to produce device quality crystalline silicon thin-film for PV application. He is inventor of quasicrystalline silicon thin-film, single element (Si) quasicrystal is invented at laboratory for the first time, opened up the new horizon of field of semiconductor quasicrystal. This development is expected to create many applications based on semiconductor quasicrystal. The company is managed by experienced professional in the field of solar energy.
  • Nanogram
    Consultant
    Nanogram Jun 2008 - Jul 2008
Responsible for leading thin-film device research. Contributed improvement of solar cells device testing procedure, improvement of silicon solar cells fabrication process and procurement of I-V testing equipment.
  • Sierra Solar Power, Inc., Sunnyvale, Ca
    Member Of Technical Staff
Sierra Solar Power, Inc., Sunnyvale, Ca Jul 2007 - Nov 2007
Led four different projects simultaneously. Led semiconductor system development, procurement of equipments, and installation of metrology tools and also co-directed a project on designing and co-coordinating solar cells fabrication. Led a team of engineers and scientists for reactor development for post-treatment of semiconductor.
  • Department Of Physics, Syracuse University, Ny
    Research Assistant Professor
Department Of Physics, Syracuse University, Ny Apr 2000 - Oct 2005
Responsible for developing new research program, bringing research grants, developing and teaching in physics. Co-founded a research program in condensed matter physics group on semiconducting polymer and hydrogenated amorphous silicon hybrid solar cells devices. This research was the subject matter of a Ph.D. student although she worked on different semiconductiong polymer. Succeeded in bringing external research funding of the amount $238,000.00 from EPV Solar as well as National Science Foundation. I developed an international collaborative project with New University of Lisbon funded by National Science Foundation on amorous-to-nanocrystalline transition materials, I call it quasi-amorphous silicon thin-film.
  • Department Of Physics, University Of Kaiserslautern, Germany
    Visiting Scientist
Department Of Physics, University Of Kaiserslautern, Germany Nov 1999 - Mar 2000
Responsible for defining, designing and executing experiments on developement of device quality nanocrystalline silicon (nc-Si) thin-film as well as technology development of amorphous silicon and nanocrystalline silicon tandem-junction solar cells by hot wire chemical vapor deposition (hot-wire CVD) technique. Hands-on experiment in a four-chamber hot-wire CVD system. In-situ diagnostic technique, UV-VIS ellipsometry was attached with one of the chambers to investigate the nucleation and growth of amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) and nanocrystalline silicon (nc-Si) on glass or on top of doped layer. Guiding Ph.D. students, working on amorphous silicon and nanocrystalline silicon thin-film semiconductors was part of my job responsibilities.
  • Solarex (Presently Bp Solar)
    Project Staff Scientist
Solarex (Presently Bp Solar) Jan 1997 - Jul 1999
Responsible for defining, developing and executing research project to develop technology for improving the performance of amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) and amorphous silicon-germanium (a-SiGe:H) single-junction as well as a-Si:H/a-SiGe:H tandem-junction solar cells. Analysis of the results, reporting in the meeting and recommend to the higher level manager for next phase of the project were part of job responsibilities. I led simultaneously three projects on developing manufacturing technology of a-Si solar cells. Reproduced device-quality a-Si:H and a-SiGe:H thin-film by helium diluted silane plasma in DC PECVD. Developed a-Si:H absorber layer with lower stabilized defect density than state-of-the-art a-Si:H film of Solarex. I also invented high chamber pressure process that produces a-Si:H absorber layer with lower optical gap and higher stabilized efficiency. Post-doctoral Research
  • Department Of Physics, Laboratory Of Thin-Film And Interfaces, Ecole Polytechnique, France
Charge De Researche And Attache De Researche (Research Associate)
Department Of Physics, Laboratory Of Thin-Film And Interfaces, Ecole Polytechnique, France Sep 1994 - Dec 1996
Responsible development of second-generation large-area (10 x 10 cm2) hot wire chemical vapor deposition (hot-wire CVD) system for fabrication poly-Si thin-film solar cells on glass. A team of engineers, technicians and a graduate student were part of this development project. Invented polycrystalline silicon thin-film having highest doping efficiency, reported in literature. We also found hole mobility is higher than electron mobility. We also invented atomic hydrogen (H) from hot-wire CVD improves mobility unlike plasma dissociated H which improves lifetime of the carrier. Responsible for managing two other projects, i.e. i) solid phase crystallization (SPC) of amorphous silicon (a-Si) and ii) light-induced metastability, transport properties, defect and structural properties of amorphous-to-nanocrystalline silicon thin-film.

Energy Researche Unit, Indian Association For The Cultivation Of Science, Kolkata, India Nov 1993 - Aug 1994
Co-advised a graduate student on thin-film semiconductor and solar cells project. I informally guided her from training the experimental techniques as well as interpreting the results and finally publishing the paper. We invented amorphous silicon-like materials in the - regime and helium diluted plasma.
