Community Engagement provides programs and services that are strategically focused on achieving health equity -improving health and upward mobility in all communities, especially those that need it most. So far, during my time at this internship I have been assisting with a Children’s Book Drive by making connections within the hospital and community to receive book donations and then deliver them to schools with high poverty rates. Also, I have assisted in program development, marketing, recruitment, and evaluation of the Art Enhances Health program with the Cameron Art Museum and the Zimmer Cancer Center patients. Other projects I have worked on include The Light the Way for Hope event, the Women’s Health and Wellness event, volunteering at the COVID-19 vaccine clinic, and program planning for Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP)
