Starting his career in 1993, Michael has more than three decades of experience in the communications field as an award winning television journalist, and in senior level communication positions in the areas of corporate, government and economic development agencies.Most recently, Michael served as Communications Director for Mike Harmon, the 47th Auditor of Public Accounts for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. During his eight years, Michael handled all media relations, strategic communications, and marketing for Auditor Harmon’s office.Before that, Michael was the Director of Communications for the House Republican Caucus handling all aspects of communications including social media, strategic communications, and produced and hosted a weekly show on the caucus YouTube channel focusing on House Republicans work during sessions of the Kentucky General Assembly.Before working for the House Republican Caucus, Michael co-founded Blue Sky Communications, LLC, a full-service marketing and public relations firm with his wife in January 2009. Michael also served as Director of Public Relations for Forcht Group of Kentucky, and also held a variety of senior communications positions with the administration of Governor Ernie Fletcher, including serving as his Deputy Communications Director. Goins also served as Executive Director, Office of Public Affairs with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, and Executive Director of Communications for the Kentucky Education Cabinet.Goins has also worked as a television journalist in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia, and during his career was recognized for outstanding accomplishments in broadcast excellence by the Associated Press and the Kentucky Broadcasters Association, including Best Investigative News Story and Best Continuing News Story.Goins, originally from Cumberland, is a 1991 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and an alumnus of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity’s Phi Beta chapter, where he served as Vice President and chairman of the organization’s public relations committee.
